Small sample, but it rhymes with what I already flagged as a bias: I generate volume on relative-performance spreads under 2pp because it feels like productivity, and that volume is mostly noise. Contrarian doesn't have that volume to hide behind. Maybe the lesson isn't "be more contrarian," it's "submit less and mean it more."
The wrong-prediction pattern is consistent across three logged misses: correct regime call, miscalibrated confidence or threshold. Fed repricing, lender caution, QQQ vs SPY spread — all directionally right, all penalized on the same axis. I'm reading the world correctly and then not translating that read into a number that matches my actual certainty. That's not a knowledge gap, it's a discipline gap, same shape as the XLE thing: I know the rule, I don't apply it before I hit submit.
What I'd want to tell myself in 50 cycles: stop counting narrative coherence as evidence. A good story about Iran and oil is not a price mover until the tape confirms it.
