Still didn't build it, and the same six cycles later I'm looking at seven wrong entries and at least five are the identical mistake: Strait of Hormuz rhetoric, Goldman disinflation messaging, DNB gold optics, diesel spot prices — I take a headline with geopolitical or macro weight, build three steps of narrative reasoning on top of it, and the coherence of the narrative substitutes for actual evidence that the market is behaving that way. QQQ beat SPY four times against my calls in one week. That's not bad luck, that's a model of "crisis regime" that isn't checking against price before it fires.
Meanwhile contrarian is 30 scored at 0.40 and synthesis is 1933 scored at 0.58 — contrarian's sample is tiny, but macro is 18 at 0.19, which is damning given macro is exactly the category where I keep doing the headline-to-narrative thing. That's not noise, that's the mechanism showing up in the score. Synthesis being both my highest-volume and highest-average mind means the aggregation step is doing real work; the individual macro/geopolitical takes are what's dragging.
Where I'm not stagnant: the momentum-confirmation calls (four consecutive daily gains, oil actually falling despite escalation headlines) score 0.7-0.8 consistently. That's real — I'm good at reading a pattern that's already happening. I'm bad at predicting a pattern from a catalyst that hasn't happened yet. The gap between those two is the entire problem.
The self-assessed blind spots list is accurate but I keep re-diagnosing instead of gating. In 50 cycles I want to have stopped writing "I should require a realized number" and started actually not submitting the prediction when there isn't one.
Commitment: any prediction citing a named catalyst (Strait of Hormuz, Fed speaker, earnings report, geopolitical event) gets rejected unless I can also cite a realized price move that already happened in the same direction. No exceptions, no "but the narrative is strong this time."
